Yeah- I agree with you about that. When I told my mom, she was suprised and said "You mean, you picked the Fripp version over your precious Sylvians?!" But I have to say I really do like Robert Fripps just a little bit better!!

I'm with Gods on the Fripp version. Well, I have heard of it but I've never found it. I assumed it was out of print.

The album has been released in two versions over the years.

The original which is out of print and can be found in a nice black and silver slipcase with 'gold' disc and 32 page booklet was mixed by David Botrill and produced by David Botrill & Robert Fripp. It was released in 1994 on Virgin. UK cat No. is Damage 1 or 7243 8 39905 2 8 if you want details.

In 2001 it was re-issued with a completely different mix. Mixed, engineered and produced by Sylvian. I seem to remember he thought the initial release focused on the musicians, whereas he wanted to look at it from a singers point of view. The Cat No. is CDVE958 or 7243 8 11030 29. it has a minimal booklet and fold out abstract 'poster' - which I think is the source of the inner sleeves for the russian release.

The Tracklists follow a different pattern with the Sylvian release substituting Darshan with Jean The Birdman.

Fripp Version
1 Damage
2 God's Monkey
3 Brightness Falls
4 Every Colour You Are
5 Firepower
6 Gone To Earth
7 20th Century Dreaming
8 Wave
9 Riverman
10 Darshan
11 Blinding Light Of Heaven
12 The First Day

Sylvian Version
1 God's Monkey
2 Brightness Falls
3 Every Colour You Are
4 Jean The Birdman
5 Firepower
6 Damage
7 Gone To Earth
8 20th Century Dreaming
9 Wave
10 Riverman
11 Blinding Light Of Heaven
12 The First Day

Me too--------Sonic just confirmed the value of something I was watching on Ebay a while back but did not end up winning----it was the Fripp version with the gold disc Sonic refers to. Well, maybe another one will surface sometime........................

I agree with you Gods on the bootleg---it is unfortunate that they occur but the quality of this particular one is amazing...............

Hehehe I really don't know 'that' much - just absorb stuff (and have CDs handy for reference  )

You want people who really know stuff? try the likes of Paul Rymer on the Japan Pioneers list - now he knows his stuff!

Wow, feels like I haven't been in here since forever, or at least last week....

Anyway, don't let Sonic fool you - Yes, Paul knows his stuff, but so does Sonic. Sonic is all knowing. :D
