Will It Never Happen again?

In the light of Keith Lowe's comments that this was Sylvian's last tour the Tim Hardin cover appears quite poignant when listened to as a fan, or am I reading to much into it?

Though he did play it on the Slowfire Tour, and had toured 3 times since

Yes I remember the acoustic version from 1995 and I know he has always hated touring and often does state he won't tour again but the bad experience of this tour in terms of being ill and seperated from his family might have soured his view on performing live yet again, and remember as you mentioned the Slowfire tour in 1995 a tour he enjoyed, he still didn't tour again until 2001, in another 6 years Sylvian will be 55

I am quite sure he feels he doesn't 'owe' anyone a tour!

......and if I were to pick one thing that I hate about him, that would be it.

other than that, he is brilliant.

It will be a shame if he doesn't tour because they give such an opportunity to rework material. I'm listening to Oil on canvas at the moment and even back then I'm surprised just how well produced the material was in all it's complexity on stage. And the You tube clips from the recent 2007 Fire in the forest tour are absolutely majestic. As they were so different to the actual recorded versions I'm surprised he didn't record any of the performances for CD. Any bootlegs must be going for an arm and a leg I'rd imagine.

Will Sylvian tour again? I doubt it very much. I do however think he'll perform the one off date here and there. I think sylvian looked bored on the last tour as if he was just going through the motions.

Your right, the concerts were of a certain "speed", much prefered the band tours of 88 & 2002.

I know what you mean (I felt that to an extent at the London gig), but I'm not sure he came across that way at every venue (people who were at both the London gig and some of the European dates said that he was like a different man at the latter) and in any case, even if he was bored, I'm not sure whether that was with touring per se or the classic material.

The rather confusingly worded press release he sent out before the tour seemed to be designed to keep his options open - suggesting he might not tour again, but not actually ruling it out, seeming to say he'd never play his back catalogue again, but then sneaking in a loophole -so I'd never say never.

David didn't look bored at all on the Stockholm show.
well, it was the first on the tour, and I know touring is boring.
I guess the only reason for many artists now is the money.
when record sales go down they simply have to tour to hang on.

perhaps why duran duran toured their terrible new cd... much smaller scale and quieter reception than their last tour, but what a dismal release it was. Probably figured they should recoup something....
