Thank you, ob8.

If anybody is wondering, posts like Ob8's are very much one of a few reasons I still log in here.

Thanks natsume.

David has given us all so much over the years and our expectations of him are rightly very high. He is an incredible artist, an amazing individual who has never wavered from his own beliefs in the pursuit of musical and personal development. Qualities that are sadly often lacking in the modern world. His dedication to his art will have consequences though for his fans.

I have expressed frustration on here when (for example) books are coming out. As i want (selfishly) for his energies to be channelled into music, into singing, into giving life to his wonderfully enigmatic words. He has a unique voice that should be singing to us every morning like a bird sitting in a tree.

I think we all share a sense of frustration to some degree as to what we think of his work. or the lack of it. Or what we think he should or shouldn't be doing. He is getting older like all of us and the impetus that was a driving force for so long in him is waning. I think that is natural. Maybe he has told us everything he has to say. (btw i hope that's not the case)

He still considers himself as working in a pop medium. It gives him greater scope to experiment. I can not believe that music which has been a driving force and an integral part of his life is now redundant, music conquers everything i believe.

Maybe my hope blinds my ability to critically access the situation. Maybe, we all have to remain hopeful.

He has put out this interview into the light after being so long in the dark. His voice is still relevant. Probably more relevant than ever before. Everything happens for a reason doesn't it ?

It was a great interview. I almost had a small stroke when I heard his voice. This is the most active he's been in a decade. It was a little weird to hear him talk about Japan as he's spent the last 20 or so years denouncing it.

Found this, a condensed version of the interview.

Sad to see so many pathetic comments under it from "fans". It's like they think he should still be blonde and in full make up at 64 doing "best of" stage shows like a few other outfits do.

The man is free to do what the hell he wants to do. So be it.

‘And the radio falls silent
But for short bursts of static
And she sleeps in a house
That once too had a name‘
When I cannot sing my heart...I can only speak my mind...
