You're not far off, lol.

Hold your head up sonny boy
Let the earth dry on it

Thanks for that, heartofdavid.

I obviously have an obsession with the coiffeur's art, as I also used to think that the line "Young boys try their hand" in Waterfront was "Young boys dry their hair"!

There's no love in this virgin eggroll...

There's no love in this luncheonette, well...

LMAO...Oh God, this is so hilarious! I love this thread. New Romantik, please post more!

New Romantik wrote:What I always thought the lyrics were:
Their cutting and we sweat.
And there's always someone here.

The actual lyrics:
The cottage is windswept.
Now there's only sorrow here.

(I swear I don't no how I could mishear that...)

Fall In Love With Me, my misheard lyrics:
Someone has-a taxes
Searching for si-er-ial
I am nearing under ground
We looked alot like you
Work is done, they're taking sail
Deliver expectations down

Actual lyrics:
A summerhouse in Texas
Searching for Siberia
Pioneering underground
We looked a lot like you
Now work is done, the table set
Deliver insufficient sound

Thanks for aknowledging me!!!

I had no idea what he was saying in those songs, so my brain naturally adjusts to the closest thing...Only until I look up the lyrics have I the vaguest idea that I was wrong...lol

"Art Of Parties" Misheard Lyrics:
Once I was young
Once I was small (makes sense)
Now I'm losing all the edge of my nerves
(That's not funny, but it's what I thought the lyrics were...)

Also, everytime in "Art Of Parties" when David sings, "this time", I thought he was saying, "Distant." Figure that one out...

"Swing" Misheard Lyrics:
Tell me when the world is gone
Tell me when the day is through
And I'll drive safely inside my car
Taking candles in Africa

'Shake it' someone gets to hear
I know just what- (couldn't even understand it)

We all know the real lyrics so I don't think I need to post them...

I'm walking young and strong
But just a little tooth thing, ah
Maybe happy buy I haven't a clue
To this life...

(And instead of "Cling to me" I heard "Claim to be")

"Communist China"
Your skin, weinstein said I should
Clinical bodies won't do...

Communist China
Communist China
Take forever
Somebody Wrong
All that gloss in your face
Call it new propoganda...

Some of these 'interpretations' of Sylvian's lyricas are hilarious.
Maybe moving not far from when he grew up at the age of 12 allowed me to understand his accent better, but unfortunately I don't have any funny misheard lyrics to share.
Either that or I haven't bothered reading them to discover the correct lyrics!

And I thought the next line was, "No other crowded desk will do. They're only building some houses, why should I care?"

"The lights of the ashes smoulder through hills and dales,
bitterness shown on the face of the homeless"

From "Every colour you are"

"A family man, his patients tried, to put him in a home

I think i need my ears syringed.

Big wheels in shanty town

At the end of the song DS sings a couple of vocal lines.

I can never work out what they are. It sounds like....

"Dolphin faced in the car,
birthday of time"

I suppose someone's going to tell me that the opening lines of "Obscure Alternatives" are not:

Love's incentive's unstuck
Regular frogs comply

Well, actually I haven't read all posts when I became a member of this forum, so I didn't know this funny thread. I also have my story of misheard lyrics. I bought the 12" version of Nightporter long before I got the CD-version which contains the lyrics of this song. But because I loved that song so much, I tried to write the lyrics and of course made some serious mistakes.

"Well, wonder again
How close they are wept,
The shower from the rain
Longing to touch of places, we know we can hide
The weed of a role that can hold so much pleasure inside"

turned out to be

"We'll wander again
Our clothes they are wet
We shy from the rain
Longing to touch all the places we know we can hide
The width of a room that could hold so much pleasure inside"

Well, to defend myself I have to say I put some questionmarks in my diary and after all I'm Dutch...
