My interpretation was -"Zero down to zero, there's a virgin in every man...".

I like my version better.

Holy cow...I, too, thought "submerging in every man...". That's too funny.

You know, I just re-read this post and I see I misread your post  *Slaps my forehead*

I’m with Melaszka – Jean The Birdman is a minefield! I never liked it much – so I guess I never really spent any time figuring out what he was actually saying.

I reckon if we add all our mis-heard lyrics together on this one – we would invent an entirely new track, perhaps entitled “Gone the Boredom” (apologies to anyone who loves this song ).

Anyway here are my mistakes:

He sings: “Don’t count on luck son” All the angels sing
I sing: Don’t count on locks on all the urgencies

He sings: Just look out for card sharks
I sing: Just look out for the car-jacks

He sings: Six hearts cut short
I sing: Six huts caught short

I don’t know how a hut gets caught short, but I sing it anyway!

Aw, I do actually really like the song (despite the faux American accent he insists on singing it in), but I laughed so much when I read your post my face actually hurts.

Up until a few months ago, I always thought

"Boys, when these driving hands push against the tracks"

was

"Boys, when these drag queen hands push against the tracks"

I dunno, I quite liked my version... 8)

 Ah, it's those Sahf London vowels. A bit like "It's all written down in this age of raisin"

Although it's not misheard it just makes me laugh for some reason...I guess it's the veiled VD reference, unintentionally of course.

'Hey Rock n' Rollers, whats happenin' with you? Man, you've got the itch, and I've got it too!'

It's Cheap trick BTW,

In 'Rhodesia' (heard shortly after the famous Saturday Night Live sketch with Idi Amin asking for Americans to donate their old fondue sets to the poor, appealing for 'Fondue Sets For Uganda'... you gotta be older than 35 to have seen Garret Morris play Idi Amin)... anyway I hear in the refrain '"Lollypops for Rhodesia'". ;-)

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the real lyrics of Cover Me with Flowers are? Logically I know he can't be singing "Let the earth dry your hair", but that's what I keep hearing!

You're not far off, lol.

Hold your head up sonny boy
Let the earth dry on it
It won't hurt you
It won't hurt you

Tell me something sonny boy
Baptised and plunged
Is it worth it?
It must be worth it

Hold your head up sonny boy
It won't hurt you
It won't hurt you

Let's renew the promise
Break our wings upon it
If in peace there's power
Cover me with flowers

Tie your shoelaces little girl
Time is waiting on it
And when it's over
And when it's over...

I can offer nothing
This nothing's everlasting
I could be Shiva lying
Beneath ferocious darkness
My heart's devoured
Cover me with flowers

Let me see the face
Of all enduring grace
Let me take a crack at
All that matters
And in the weightless hours
Cover me with flowers

Cover me with flowers

hee hee... this topic made me giggle to beat the band. It is funny I'm sure i don't sing the write lyrics to many songs but i can't think of one specifically.

There are a few sites online that have all his lyrics listed. I swear when i looked up some of the songs i laughed at what i had thought he was saying. LOL

One that took me a while to figure out was from Before the Bullfight:

This island of blue
Where...?...

The next word sounded like either a) the groan accompanying a very painful bellyache or b) a moan of shuddering orgasmic pleasure, sounds that can be very similar btw, lol.

Finally figured out it was "life"..."where life clings to your hands." :P

What I always thought the lyrics were:
Their cutting and we sweat.
And there's always someone here.

The actual lyrics:
The cottage is windswept.
Now there's only sorrow here.

(I swear I don't no how I could mishear that...)

Fall In Love With Me, my misheard lyrics:
Someone has-a taxes
Searching for si-er-ial
I am nearing under ground
We looked alot like you
Work is done, they're taking sail
Deliver expectations down

Actual lyrics:
A summerhouse in Texas
Searching for Siberia
Pioneering underground
We looked a lot like you
Now work is done, the table set
Deliver insufficient sound

i don't think i have misheard anything really, since in snow borne sorrow sylvian sings oh satan repeatedly. evidently he is supposed to sing oh save them, but i think oh satan is rather refreshing coming from sylvian......

There's no love in this virgin eggroll...

There's no love in this luncheonette, well...
