Game: Sylvian Stories

Postby Hawk on Tue Mar 30, 2010 2:53 pm

Greetings one and all! I hope this thread belongs here... stick it in Open Season if not... It is based on that game I can't remember the name of where people offer a line each to join together to make stories...

E.g. Person A - "One day the bird flew into the sky..."
Person B - "...He felt so alive and free..."
Person C - "...then a man shot the bird..."
Person D - "...and the bird was dead..."

:-)

But this is a Sylvian version, so sentences can only be made up of lyrics or titles of David Sylvian songs (okay and Japan / Nine Horses).

It can make pretty stories:

E.g. Hawk - "There's a man down in the valley..."
baht habit - "...running like a horse between the trees..."
Silver Moon - "...he pauses at the city's edge..."
neonico - "...on the banks of a sunset beach..."

Or bizarre ones:

E.g. missouriman - "The taste of country air..."
Astronaut - "...and the hard taste of pennies..."
becky - "...someone's back kitchen..."
Hawk - "...lassoed by the cowboys..."
Astronaut - "...to Cafe Europa..."

Want to give it a try?

I guess there aren't many rules except from the above, and that it has to kind of make sense ("my love wears forbidden colours....and I'll drive safely inside my car" does NOT make sense for example). In some cases, I think it is allowed for a pronoun or two to be changed (e.g. "Heaven may stone him....just when HE thought HE could not be stopped"). And be as weird, imaginative and funny as you like! Everything has to flow - so hopefully we will end up with a nice long story. And, yes, the same sentence can be used multiple times.

Okay, if we're all clear, I'll begin:

"If you ask me I might tell you......."

Her presence in the moment lacks conviction,
the result of some terrible compromise of the past.
