Gone to Earth Question

I have a Test Pressing of Gone to Earth.
It's just indicated MTX. NO. StVR876299.A and REC. NO. 90577 on the actual vinyl.
and the songs are just side A and B of Gone to Earth.
Did Virgin, or David, from the beginning plan to release this album just as a single album instead of a double? I mean, no instrumentals.

Don't know for sure but I would suspect Virgin would have wanted David to veer away from the instrumental stuff and may have tried to dissuade him.

Someone will DEFINITELY know the answer to this question, but at this time of night I think he'll still be in the YMO gig...

Where did you get hold of it? Maybe it was separated from its sibling at some point - that often happens at record fairs and second hand shops. For years I only ever had the wallet and second CD of the Crowded House 'Live at the Town & Country' set.
