Brilliant Trees on E4 Skins

Talk about anything David Sylvian related.

Brilliant Trees on E4 Skins

I nearly fell off the couch last night when brilliant trees was used as the backing track to a scene on the tv show Skins. This is a major coup for David to get his music onto such a well watched show. Hopefully that will get David a few more fans.

It was Forbidden Colours that was used. Three tracks of mine were used during the first series and during a conversation with one of the editors he asked me if there was any artist I would love to be on the soundtrack for the second series. I said anything by David Sylvian would be fantastic but didn't think anymore of it. It may just be a coincidence but still cool.

Now well... Just watched the beginning of a Close to Home episode on video (right after something we were watching) and heard a very familiair music style and voice. Sounded very much like early Japan and David's voice I recognized. But not any song I know. So have been searching on lyrics. Nothing...
So either a group is doing an early Japan revival with a Sylvian voice double, which is very nice too. Or a song for me to discover?
Anyone recognize the beginning lyrics of the song?
I can change, I can change, I can change, if you give me time
I can change, I can change, I can change, I'll get it right this time
But this is not my idea of a good time
This is not my idea of a good time
...
After this the sound of Close to Home takes over and I cannot really hear the text anymore. Nice puzzle and surprise!

Forbidden Colours used as background music on the BBC coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show tonight (predictably, in a slot about a Japanese exhibitor). Is it just me, or is Japan/Sylvian all over the telly these days?

Err, I don't know, but if you're that interested maybe you could ask the Performing Rights Society what the going rate is at the mo. I know from my work in theatre admin up to 2006 that PRS payments were usually 4% of net takings per show but I haven't a clue about TV stuff. :-D
