Wow, Krausy you saw Duran Duran in 1984!

My dad loves them, he's seen them live, I think 6 times. He took me and my friend with him to see them live in Amsterdam two years ago.

After that I wanted to see them again so I travelled to Berlin without my friend and dad and it was really scary being alone in another country for the first time.
But I'll never forget it though! I just really missed my friend...

Can't believe it......I have a big stupid grin on my face, that I just can't shift and if I think about it too much, I may explode!
I found the way, by the sound of your voice.

I see it's not just me! I also saw DD in 1987 and then nothing until I saw them in Madrid promoting Astronaut on a TV show. Then I decided I had to go and see them live again, so there I went (to Berlin too) alone, 2 weeks after. I am so glad I went! Though it started an addiction and I ended seeing them 14 times on that tour, LMAO!

So if you want to do something, do it! I was going to see Porcupine Tree alone to London and ended finding company to go with, but I am probably going alone to see David and that doesn't stop me :D

My only thing now is where do I get tickets from?? Cos I looked on the venues website and teh sylv isn't on there....or do I just need to be patient...a bit....??

Its so hard to be like that when I want to go so badly and I haven't got my ticket assured...

I am going to England to see David this fall if I do have to swim over. I agree with you, Isa, about finding a way to do something if you want to do something badly enough (and let's face it, this may well be the last time any of us will ever have to see David in concert). Of course, if he takes pity on us poor American and Canadian fans and schedules some dates over here, I won't need to swim anywhere. :-)

I too saw Duran Duran in '84 and actually I saw them in '81 and '82 as well. God, they were cute boys. :) That's so cool that your dad is/was a DD fan too, Bridget, and seeing them in AMsterdam and Berlin must have been such fun!

Oh Isa, what an incredible birthday present that would be! You have to go!

Maybe you could go to Manchester as well? It would be so great to meet you if possible if I am able to attend that one too :)

I'm starting to ponder options, fear me, LOL! :-D

I would be interested to know what sort of venues he will be playing. *sigh* if he DOES tour the US, it probably won't be until winter, or fall. PLEASE come to Seattle?!

Why is it that Europe gets all the cool stuff? Wacken Open Air in Germany! And what do we get? Wankfest, with hundreds of S****y hot topic mallcore bands...thanks. :smt070

Hanoi Rocks? I love Hanoi Rocks too!

I heard that things went so badly the last time David toured the US in 2002 that they basically decided never again here...I hope and pray they change their minds. I will go to the UK if necessary...but I hope it won't be!

I agree re: Europe getting all the cool music and concerts, etc. Sometimes being an American is a bit of a drag! :(

Looking again at the dates Manchester is a no-no for me. If I can get the 2nd half of September off then I could go to London. But manchester is the 14th, so no posibility :(

I was thinking in going with the family, as I have always wanted to take them to London. First planed taking them when PT played but couldn't be. Let's see if this time we can do it! And if not, there's always Brussels! :D Or Paris! I am pondering going to see PT there and they play in the same venue as David.

Re: not being able to meet in Manchester... Well, maybe we will have another chance another time to meet up somewhere?

So is your family not going to be able to go with you to London? I think I just saw in one of your other posts that you will be going to London alone...? Paris and Brussels both sound lovely. I persoanlly wish I could see David in Dublin as Ireland has a strong hold on my heart as well, but really, I would be grateful just to see him anywhere at all, right?!

Now we just have to hope that he forgets his original promise not to tour here and does it anyway, and that he does it before your trip to the UK.

Please David........................Gods and I love you  ..............come visit us please..................I ain't too proud to beg................in fact you are the only man I WOULD beg :-D ...................please?!?!

How about we create a supply in demand by e-mailing Sylvian's website/myspace asking for some dates in North America! I mean, if WE fill up the house as his audience, there's not a chance in he'll get hostile reviews. I just want to show David that there are pleasant people in America that would love to have him perform!

If the JapanSylvian team unites, then we can persuade him to serenade us!

*I owe you an email, bear with me!*

Yeah, bummer on Manchester! But also going there is a lot more expensive because I don't have direct flights from here. Will probably do London (the BD deserves it ;)) or if not I'd look at the other options that could have cheap flights (like Italy or Paris/Brussels).

I have been trying to take my parents to London since I heard that PT were playing there (because dad likes them too). But in the end we couldn't make it, we are drowned in paperwork since my grandfather died and now it seems it's solving. So hopefully I could take them in September and see David in one go. I assume that the gig in London would be seated? My father can't be standing for long (another reason for not coming to see PT with me).

Andy clue anyone when the tix will be on sale? :!:

I just heard that tickets for Manchester are going on sale 10AM this Friday (I already alerted my friend there, he is going to be right on it) so I would check the websites of the London Royal Festival Hall and the others you are interested in. I don't know anything re: the London venue, does anyone else? It sounds as if it would be seated, but I guess you can't always go by names alone, can you?

So sorry to hear about the passing of your grandfather, Isa. :(

I do think that's great your dad is a fellow PT fan! And please, no worries re: the email, look how long it always takes me to write, yes?! I like hearing from you whenever. :-)
