I remember reading once that David was one of the individuals who had turned down an honour in the past. He was listed in the "Sunday Times list" of about 250 celebreties and other individuals. He apparently turned down a CBE. (Commander of the British Empire) for Services to avant-garde music. Not sure if this was true.

I can't imagine he would accept anything like that. As somebody else, said, he would probably much rather people expend their energy towards positive change in the world, and not towards himself.

That said, this kind of thing does seem suitable for some artists. Kate Bush is royalty, in my American mind, so why the hell not? And it would get her to climb out from under her rock for one more public appearance. Elton John, Mick Jagger, they make sense. They have huge egos. And I do respect both of them.

Sylvian, I can't see him wanting anything to do with it. Isn't that why we like him?
