David's Tour - Meeting in London

Talk about anything David Sylvian related.

Thanks for the ideas Eric! Yeah, can the locals suggest a place? Maybe the venue itself has restaurants or cafes?

And Sonic, uh, weird! I can see 3 flights for 0.01 GBP that with taxes are like 10 pounds each. I am making the search from Glasgow to London on the 17th. Dunno if you needed to do it a different day. Anyway, it was just a suggestion.

Yeah the taxes/fees is where they get you. It was some 30 GBP each. Actually I'm surprised Sonic found it for as little as he did. My search led me to a total of 80 something GBP for both. Granted, that's still pretty cheap. However, we're off to Birmingham the next day and if we flew we wouldn't have a vehicle to get there and then to Manc the following day so I can go home. :smt022 Though, if I happened to miss that flight it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. ;)

Anyway - all the above means a quick meet before the show might be in the cards for us. Probably not a lunch or anything like that though. What time was everyone thinking of meeting?

Uh, I found it for 10 with taxes included... but maybe the prices change if you order from one country or another? (that has happened to me before!)

Anyway, idea discarded because you have to Brum! All the places you are going sound like my last DD tour, but I did Glasgow, Brum, Manchester and London, with a stop in Liverpool to visit a friend, heee. ;)

I can't do lunch either, but we could grab a bite before the show, or a drink, whatever you feel like it. The show starts at 19:30, so dunno... around an hour before that? What do the others say?

Except you'd be left in Manchester all on your own as I have to get back to work.

The South bank Centre has places to eat and drink - I suggest meeting there before the gig.

Steerpike I am going to get to London Victoria at 12:20. So if you wanna meet me there or anywhere else (I know how to use the Underground now) anytime after then that would be cool.

As I have the whole day free too... I r wouldn't mind going to Kensington beforehand if you guys wanted to.

I would muchly like to meet you all, I hope I do.

Gee I keep forgetting about this and then it is a pleasant buzz everytime I confront it. I am so, so excited. :D

So do we have a place and a time already? Sorry to bug you all with that, but I am a planner and I like stuff figured out in advance, plus I am trying to solve my parent's evening too (without them having to get into trouble for not speaking English! ;))

Sonic, do you know the places for drinking/eating at the SBC?

I haven't been since it was re-vamped Isa, so I have no idea what the layout is now.

Maybe someone more Londoncentric can help

Oh okay, sorry I just thought you knew it.

Now I have to run to work, but will check on their site what's there, maybe there's some info in it.

So I checked the site and this is the list of places near the RFH that we can go to:

http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/visiti ... -and-drink

What does everybody think it's better? Any clues about what's more expensive/better food or whatever from the locals?

Also, I'm going to start a rollcall for the pregig meeting there. Adding the names that I think are the sure ones. Please, add your name!

As we're all watching the pennies, what about Wagamama (very appropiate)?

That sounds good to me! I downloaded the menu to think in advance what I want, I am always talking too much deciding it, LOL! ;) And I am difficult with food and I know it!

Here's the menu:

So it's a yes from me, now waiting for others to talk!

I'm up for meeting up too. I'll be coming from stansted, (funnily enough I live close by), after work so I doubt I'll be in the vicinity before 5.30pm. So what's the decision? We meeting close by or the RFH?

It'd be nice, wouldn't it, to have an annual or bi-annual meet in London anyway? I believe Bamboo used to do that kind of thing. Whatever happened to Debi Zornes by the way?Anyone know? Last I heard she was helping to run Medium.
