LOL Xx_Vanity_xX:

I am hoping to be able to accomplish the SAME THING! To do this, I feel I must go to London.... It is the only way... The only guys left in the US are pick-up truck racing, khacki-pants sagging, walking-around-with-their-mouths-open guys....

... If I can't find someone my age... I'll have to go for an older man just the same!

To London it is then!

Awayyyyy.............

Just thinking about this topid again and remembered on Saturday night i was watching my Japan DVD whilst getting ready to go out for a meal. My mum couldn't help going on at how nice David's hair looked in the video for 'I second that emotion'. As is usually the case, i was too busy watching Sylvian to notice what was going on around me.
Yeah, intelligent input darling why don't you just have another beer then.

Really hard choice...
I choose 81 look but really, i just picked one because he's simply... gorgeous in every style, way and time!
I quote you wholly, kinki!
He's really like... a creature made of beauty, outside and inside... that can touch people and make them see and feel such a beauty through his music and voice...
*sorry, crazy girl I am*

And... I'd like to do my make up like him, too...
(I'm such a disaster with make up... )

I actuallly like the 1980 look, I wonder why you didn't include that date, because from what I understand he dyed his hair between that time to something different in 1981. His manager said it was bleach blond in the front and a dark ruby red in the back, dyed it without telling anyone!. I loooove that look! 8)
Also, was this the same look as in the Swing and Gentlemen Take Polaroids videos? If so, then that is part of the reason why the 1980 look is my favorite.

Do I have to choose? I choose from the demos 'till "Tin Drum" because I like the dramatic theatrical makeup he wore and the style of clothing everyone else wore as well. I liked his long hair, too!
Now I feel a little embarassed talking about it...

I think the look on Gentlemen take polaroids, with the white fringe was the most original and capitivating look in pop history. People say he was a Bowie wannabe but this look was unlike anything seen before.

I suspect he would find his earlier long haired glam look somewhat embarrasing today

This was really difficult! So I broke it down into categories:
For hair and make up I'd vote for 1979 + 1981.
For stylish clothing + being extremely 'cool': 1981 + 1982.
For hot sex appeal: 1978.
So, the winner is ...

1978! Rawk 'n' roll Davie! :smt049 :smt049 :smt049

He dyed it dark red and platinum blonde in April 1979, so the photo Sylvian Girl posted is just the right date. I think I'm right in saying his hairstyle didn't change too much until 1981 when DS appears to have had more layers cut into the top and sides as it doesnt look as full and thick around his face. :D (Gosh! How much useless trivia do I know?)

OHhh! Such a pretty boy I'll choose 1978 one. And not only David I love Mick in those years. They had a very particulary style, they look similar to New York Dolls but they weren't so rude.

And ... who does prefer Sylvian 2008 ??

Me. I always thought he was better looking the older he got, the same with Steve. And Rich and Mick still look very fine to me.

I never liked the blond hair color, although I did like the hair cuts.

during the Japan years David looked better the older he got.
the last photos there is, are the nicest...
his big glasses, more sophisticated, more mature, less extrovert...

i think the look in the 90s and now should be included too. Personally I favour his more mature looks later in life. But if i had to pick younger then it is 82... less make up and the blonde hair. I like it when he went au natural later though.... mmmmmmm and the long hair with a pony tail YUM. But I especially love his hair now.... perfect

I vote on 1978.
My first Japan's album was "Tin Drum", because obi sleeve advertisement said "this album is their best masterpiece." I didn't think it is attractive jacket, but it catches eyes.
Next time I saw them, they played "Quiet Life" at Top of the Pops. I thought they were stylish band, but I didn't think any further. but I liked Quiet Life tune.
Third time, I watched "Adolescent Sex" video. I couldn't take my eyes off from David's lips and Richard. "What are these girlish boys!? Why the boy on keyboards seems so dull (but he seemed very cool in those hot boys :D )?" then I rushed to CD store. of course I thought "Adolescent Sex" tune sound good. :smt023
