Lyrics misheard

As the title states, have any of you ever completely missed the mark when it comes to deciphering Japan's lyrics (or David's or any other related artists)? Just asking because it usually comes out to be quite funny...

Anyway, my biggest goof was with the lyrics to Quiet Life- the part where David says:
When these driving hands push against the tracks

For the longest time, I though he was saying:
When these drag-queen hands :-D

At first it sort of made sense (in my deranged mind), seeing how David dressed and all. And then one day it finally hit me. "That's a stupid thing to say in a song, that can't be right." I should look at the liner notes more often.

When I was just a little girl, and my parents would play "pulling punches" in the car, (Before I knew who David Sylvian even was besides that 'dead bees dude') I always thought he was singing "Bowling Bunches"!!

PS: I also thought that the song "Gentlemen Take Polaroids" was done by Wang Chung when I very very first started getting interested in the 80's!

Actually- I just remembered that my mother and I are having a little bet about the lyrics on Mick Karn's Sensitive...

She thinks he says "If you shake their hands and stand there"

But I think he says "If you shake their hands and stab them"

Which one is it for sure?

Bowling bunches sounds like something a kid would say. "I've been bowling bunches today!" :-D

And I looked it up and I think you're right about the lyrics.

"Night poured as gold"

Guess which song...
Hint: Look at my avatar for the album.

Really, listen to it. I thought this was the correct lyric until well past the mid-80s.
