Make Up

Postby Fire Rose 45 on Tue Nov 03, 2009 12:44 am

A lot of the artists from the 80's wore make up, David and the boys in Japan, Adam Ant, Boy George, Nick from Duran Duran, and a lot of others. Who do you think wore it best and why?

Best? David and Boy George!
:-D They look extremely pretty :smt007 I like it best when Dave has purple mascara and Boy George's eyeliner is powerful :smt007
I am new here :"> And I can't speak English very well.

Sorry, but no-one beats Adam Ant when it comes to make-up. :D

Edit: Why? Speaking from a boy's point of view, he was the only one capable of using his make-up to wake up 'innocent fantasies' (pirates, highwaymen, cowboys & indians, etc.).

I think the question is "who wore it best" instead of who wore it more"

In that case, I´d say Nick Rhodes of Duran duran...in the days of Notorious album, he looks gorgeus and not feminine at all.

The only male I've seen wearing a make up of any kind without looking not a bit feminine is Bowie. Especially love his 'Scary Monster' looks...

Don't want to comment B.George, he's hideous really...
Sylvian's make up was the best during his beginnings...
Rhodes' was ok no sooner than during 'Notorious' as Erika said...J Taylor wore it in a much manly way IMO...

Well why bother posting in it if you find it irrelevant?

Cos Neonico is a girl and girls do what girls want. I think every Japan fan slapped some stuff on their face at one point. I did. Looked "wrong" is the best I can think of. Boy George was disgusting to look at with or without makeup. Awful personality too. Robert Smith wore it well. Kind of that Bette Davis lipstick smear and bed head hair. Sylvian's make up on the GTP cover is a work of art. See Gary Numan for examples of what not to do with the blue hair and blue lipstick phase.

Sorry Inkie i was never that comfortable having pictures taken so there are'nt many in existence and thankfully i don't have a scanner ! One of the things that made me have such a connection with Japan was that i felt the same way as they did. The make up was a mask which one could face the world with. My dad used to call me Max after the make up brand Max Factor !
