An uncontestable argument against the ’80s

Japan formed in 1974 and soon discovered that their mixture of washed-out glam-rock, vaguely literary pretensions and bucketloads of makeup prompted little more than cruel laughter. The dawn of the ’80s, however, found things moving their way, and by 1981, plenty of easily distracted teens were wobbling enigmatically to “Voices Raised in Welcome, Hands Held in Prayer,” “The Art of Parties” and “Still Life in Mobile Homes” (the titles say it all).
Appalling fact Their version of Smokey Robinson & the Miracles’ “I Second That Emotion” might be the worst Motown cover of all time.

I think it's funny that they mentioned “Voices Raised in Welcome, Hands Held in Prayer,” what a random choice. Looks like someone scanned over Oil On Canvas, and said 'These look good'....

Don't get too worked up about this sort of thing, Japan have been bashed by writers for years... it seems to be an easy target. Music with a positive soul seems to be targeted the most. Which is a shame really, as we need all the positive vibes we can get in this world.

Looking at the list, I have quite a few Cds by these artists. I am not ashamed to say I have a couple of CDs by Nelson, - After the Rain is a wonderful CD. I also have stuff by Richard Marx, he is a great live performer - if you haven't seen him live and you get the opportunity to do so, do!!

If you like something, just keep enjoying it. I don't care about film critics or music reviews that are negatives with the stuff I love ;)

It is easy to ignore such a list when a band as musically solid as the Gypsy Kings is named as one of the 50 worst. Just goes to show the musical ignorance that is prevalent throughout and how musical proficiency is routinely disparaged by those who prefer musical mediocrity.
And by the way, the band LIVE also has no business being named on that sh*tting list either. I know members of that group personally and they were already fine musicians in their teenage years. Without a doubt they are a better band than the crapola that gets praised in a rag like Blender.

Lists like this are obviously all about superficial fashions and have nothing to do with musical ability or innovation. It wasn't so long ago that Led Zeppelin were coming fairly near the top of lists like this and now the wheel's turned full circle and they're suddenly hip again - journalists who were scoffing at them 12 months ago are trying to pretend they're lifelong fans. When Japan appear on a list with the Spice Girls, the Goombay Dance Band and Joe Dolce it will be time to worry.

What totally ignorant, quite obviously tone deaf and possibly visually unappealing,"music journalist" compiled this garbage?

I'd like to tie them to a very uncomfortable chair and force them to listen to the Crazy Frog album on repeat until their ears bleed ... mind you, with a shocking display of ignorance like this, they'd probably enjoy Mr Frog ...
