I remember being very satisfied when DBOAC came out. He sounded so positive, really, for the first time, on many of the tracks. Darkest Dreaming, Theilheim (sp?), I Surrender, Shining, these are among his finest works. The album is a bit uneven, even when it came out I could recognize that it was probably from work done over a number of years, and the vision of the album had probably changed several times. In many ways, I see Everything and Nothing and Camphor as companions to this album, as they all define Sylvian at this juncture of his career, reflective, but forward looking as well. Altogether, these are the crossroads years for him, in between youth and middle age.

I can relate, it is right where I am now!
