WOW!!!... that is only around thirty visible pages, and it looks amazing already

Heading off to pre-order without hesitation.... £65 be damned

Quiet Visitor... we no longer have an independent bookshop (or any bookshop) in my local town, so its Amazon or nothing (well, or a long drive) for me. We used to have an independent, and a Waterstones here, but both are sadly gone.

This link has just appeared on Davidsylvian.com https://david-sylvian.probitymerch.com/ I've already pre-ordered through Amazon, but £85 for a signed copy seems a little rich for my blood.....

That's a huge price difference! Depends if you want the signed version or not though.

The microsite is really nice. Looks like a beautifully-produced book, and clicking on the 'Inside the book' menu multiple times gives a range of previews. There are titles that might be unreleased songs/poems - Writing home / Tear me apart / Beautiful country:

The one thing I find disappointing is that the interviews are old ones from 2009. They might be extended versus what has been released before, but it would have been nice to have something fresh for the book.

The book looks enormous. I'll have to store it in the garage and leave the car out.

And this is one of the texts published for the first time:

Looking at the prices on the probitymerch page, I saved just a little less than 50% (€ 95,00 probity vs € 49,28 amazon.it). :D

For the first time EVER I may have to pass. As a father of two teens and one due to start college my priorities have changed. We buy stuff we have to use and need. David's book is very nice, but not essential to me. $135 for something that sits on my closet shelf doesn't make sense to me. Three old interviews and hundreds of pics of stuff we've seen isn't getting me into that place where I can convince myself we MUST get it. The new lyrics/poems will be interesting of course.

Sorry David.

I think theres a lot more in it than just stuff we've seen before. There's personal photographs, artwork by Sylvian that's never been published before, artwork and photography by artists he's either worked with or admired and in the Manafon section alone at least 10 new unpublished poems/lyrics so I can only assume there's a lot more to this book than just pulling together Trophies 1,2 and 3.

Has anyone been able to (pre-)order through the microsite? I have tried to order the signed copy but it just states "this product is currently unavailable". So - either all of you lot managed to order all 500 copies in the past 5 hours, or we are a little ahead of the game!

And it does look huge! I cannot imagine it is just a re-hash of stuff...
