Thanks for letting us know about it, but ....it's truly awful!

Why some people think you can take any slow song, put a random beat to it and think it's good baffles me.

Each to their own eh, there is a number of remixes out there on soundcloud at the moment, waterfront and wave to name just two, they may or may not work but i'm sure the remixer felt they did and who am i to argue.

Someone has to argue against taking the original track and adding a persistent 4/4 bass drum beat and calling it a remix. Just saying.

At least it can legitimately be called a "remix" anyway...

Agree with Tin Bird on this one.

The main problem for me is a complete lack of sensitivity to the original material with these so-called "remixes". I mean, did the guy for one moment actually consider what the song is about, what the lyrics express? Clearly not.

That said, I wouldn't suggest this guy's ignorant approach is any worse than that of hundreds of other "remixers" - it's a problem with remixes in general. For an energizing dance track - sure, remix away to your heart's content - the more versions the better. But seriously, making a techno-trance remix of While My Guitar Gently Weeps or a rap-breakbeat version of Imagine....something's fundamentally misguided.

And with javier. :D
Yes, there surely is some fundamental misguidance, some terrible miseducation that lets people think anything goes, that if you can 'do' it then it's good.

God almighty it is just a play on the original, good or bad is not the point! The fact is that in this day and age if DS's music reaches one or more persons just because of one or more so called silly remixes is a godsend!

There is way too much sensitivity and snobbery on this site.

The problem is that this is NOT Sylvian's music. I do not think that a crappy remix is a good way to introduce new listeners to his music either. You seem to have the inside track on "the point" that I somehow missed. A member posted a remix, members stated that they didn't care for it and aren't big fans of remixes in general, and now you state that we are all overly "sensitive and snobs."

I assumed that the link was provided for us to listen to and comment on... it seems you would prefer that I say "thank you" and keep my comments to myself...but isn't that the whole point of joining a fan forum..sharing opinions? Of course you are free to disagree..not a problem with me...I won't call you names or other...

I do not think discernment is a bad thing.

it's a pretty poor remix. Personally i like remixes of favoured tracks. It can give them a new lease of life. However let's not confuse this with a quality remix simply because it is called a remix. It's poor, with little imagination given, simply a 4 on the floor and some cymbal effects.i understand the concept of making Sylvians music more accessible but do we really need to put up with this?
