Its not confirmed yet but ds.net are usually pretty accurate with their news items. Hmmm....wonder what we can expect from this? Curious it's being released by EMI. Wonder if there's an album to follow :)

Lovely.
I wonder if it will be available for download directly from Samadhisound.

There's no pre-order possibility on the samadhisound site yet... In fact, there's nothing about the release on David's website either!

it seems like a one-off digital single to me, but who knows, it might actually be linked to some other, more major, forthcoming release. we'll soon see.

My mind is drifting back to when the track Jacqueline just seemed to indiscriminately appear out of nowhere a month or so before the extremely challenging Manafon was to be released. Now we have this new song - as was Jacqueline, this track is apparently unattached to any full length release - as was Jacqueline, it is evidently manufactured for those listeners who require an easily detectable rhythm, chord structure and hummable melody. It's quite possible that Sylvian remains fully aware that The Kilowatt Hour is guaranteed to alienate those listeners. So like Jacqueline, he releases a mild and innocuous track to serve as some sort of consolation to those who prefer to be merely entertained and do not wish to be challenged.

Surely any listeners inclined to be alienated have already been so..have they not? I can't imagine that Sylvian is sitting around placating certain types of people to hopefully keep them in his fan base. I think the more likely scenario is that he has created a new track that he feels represents a strong artistic statement in a succinct manner..so much so that he felt compelled to release it quickly and to stand on it''s own.
That it is beautiful, has a rhythm, and may even possibly be somewhat conventional is not a knock on Sylvian or his fans that appreciate that type of music.
