I adore Steves drumming, especially together with David.
Every time David release a song without drums, I miss participation of Steve.

Never say never, but I can't see it myself.

I'd like to hear more work with Martin Brandlmayr. Steve's drumming is wonderful but very structured - I'm not sure it suits the deconstructed, non-linear sound world David lives in now.

I'm hopeful that he finds a way to bridge a gap between the two styles. I think the 9h record was close. While there are individual tracks that I have enjoyed immensely over the past 10 yrs, I long for his more structured songwriting skills to be put back into use. Being one that likes to experiment and travel to new territories, this type of music would truly be a departure for him at this point. Funny, I remember reading a book I have about Bill Nelson that contains a quote from Sylvian being somewhat critical of Bill putting out album after album of what are essentially first take demo tracks. He suggested that working with other like-minded musicians and taking the time to make artistic choices would perhaps have led to better overall work. I tend to agree. While I do enjoy the improv/experimental work, I think Sylvian has too much song writing talent to leave dormant forever.

I was hoping the Joan Wasser collaboration would be a return to more traditional song structure, and hope something still emerges from that.
