Uncommon Deities - CD

Postby silentwings on Sun Jul 15, 2012 1:51 pm

There is an interesting exchange on Twitter where Dai Fujikura confirms that his work is featured on the upcoming Uncommon Deities CD on Samadhi, featuring some of David's contributions to the Punkt festival last year:

@daifujikura - It was really nice to FINALLY meet Jan Bang! it is strange, as we have collaborated many works for quite a few years, but we have never met!

@davidjnibloe - Jan is a great artist. Will your work will be included on his 'Uncommon Deities' CD (with Eric Honore) from Punkt last year?

‏@daifujikura - is that David (Sylvian) reading poem thing? This title sounds familiar, i think i have some materials here&there in some tracks

‏@daifujikura - if i am not confused with some other works from Punkt related CD release....

@davidjnibloe - Yes, Uncommon Deities is the cd with poems read by @dsylvian, & with excerpts from Punkt performances. Hope you are on it!

‏@daifujikura - i checked, yes i am on it, in a sort of "pickles" of the main dish sort of way! the whole album sounded amazing i remember..

@davidjnibloe - That's fantastic! Thanks so much for checking.. ..I can't wait for this release, the time in Norway last year was very special

Sorry old news chap, a few month's ago on David's own site, same with the Duet project and new solo album it comes in á day, month or year, or sooner then you/we expect.

Just as a brief news update: The independent publication of 'Amplified Gesture' is gearing up for release this Spring. The new edition includes an additional chapter by Phil Hopkins, an introduction by yours truly, and numerous outtakes from interviews with the artists featured in the film. The truly wonderful work of Katharina Grosse provides the art for the cover and Chris has done his usual beautiful job with packaging and design. We're also in the process of putting together a release by Jan Bang and Erik Honoré based on my stint at the Punkt festival of last year. The work is built around my readings of poems, especially commissioned for the Uncommon Deities installation, by the celebrated Norwegian poets Paal-Helge Haugen and Nils Christian Moe-Repstad, along with samples taken from the numerous performances that littered that wonderful three day event. It also features contributions from two of my most favoured musicians; Arve Henriksen and Sidsel Endresen. Jan and Erik have produced a piece of real beauty. I couldn't ask for better collaborators. Entitled 'Uncommon Deities', this project will be released in limited editions. More on this as the pieces fall into place.

In the meantime I wish you love, peace, and revolution.

Thanks, I'd seen David's statement. The new bit for me was that Dai Fujkura's work is on the Punkt CD. I don't think that had been confirmed before.

It should be out on the 24th of September, in two versions: normal and deluxe. No clues about track lists and differences between the 2 versions.

All I ask is: what's the point of writing down: "For more information on the release, please click here: http://bit.ly/OaRzhN To buy the album, please click here: http://bit.ly/PJnZum" when the links take you: a) nowhere; b) to a shop that does not have that item? Was it so hard to wait until they had something to link those links to?
Links have been fixed!

Ordered instantly. I really love both Arve Henriksen and Sidsel Endresen, so this allstars has got me really excited. And I loved the overall sound of the samples.

May I ask the reason why, Chet? (Not to point a finger at you, just to know your opinion.)
