Implausible Beauty setlist

Postby Simonp on Tue Sep 27, 2011 7:59 am

What would you like to see on the set list of the forthcoming tour? Sylvian being Sylvian, it's almost impossible to guess what he'll include in the set but knowing his past record he'll probably play something from way back to appease the old fans. If I could decide on the setlist for the tour it would certainly include the following -

The World is Everything
Sleepwalkers
Small Metal Gods
Transit
Snow Borne Sorrow
I Should Not Dare
Died in The Wool
Sugarfuel
Maria
A fire In The Forest
The Last Days of December
A Certain Slant of Light
MANAFON MANAFON MANAFON MANAFON MANAFON MANAFON MANAFON MANAFON MANAFON

I don't think he will do anything prior to the formation of Samadhi Sound

Well who could've predicted him playing Other Side of Life on the FITF tour?

I would really like to know the planned setlist as im worried about buying a ticket to be subjected to manafon and blemish for an hour or two.

Japan Fan, aren't you the least bit intrigued as to how those pieces could be brought to life on stage?

I know he wont perform visions of china, but id go to hear a mix of songs from all his albums interpreted differently from the album versions by the group of musicians assembled. What i wouldn't want to hear is live versions of the songs from manafon which are very close to the original album versions.

Japanfan, have you heard Died In The Wool? As this is presumably closer to what will be heard on this tour, if you can stand it, buy a ticket, if not, don't. :D

I agree with Ink in the well, if you don't like this period of sylvian's work then don't force yourself to sit through it

Like the other posts have indicated, you may as well not buy a ticket.

Evidently, he was very encouraged by the lineup of musicians he utilized in order to present the entirely instrumental Plight & Premonition within a live context, and equally encouraged by the enthusiastic reaction he received from the audience at the Punkt Festival. So now this totally unexpected tour has been organized and what it will consist of will undoubtedly be a surprise to us all.
I do hope Sylvian finally gets the chance to fulfill the desire to work within a fully improvisational setting, which he once expressed his interest in during an interview. If the lineup includes the musicians we now expect to be included, then we could view this as the perfect opportunity for a less structured format.
Though he found the prospect less and less intriguing, Sylvian went ahead with 2007's The World Is Everything tour - performing a good portion of older material - in order to put the past behind him. And now I think it would be extremely gracious of his fans to allow him the right to follow through on the musical path he has preferred to take.

Very well said!

Though it's not impossible he might show us the old stuff, it's just defeatist and disturbing to see the same old ghosts of this community rattle the cage with hopes that things will go back to the days of Jurassic Park! That David will came unto the people of Milan next March, glittered with hair fabulously flaxen!

You lot should emigrate to Ebay with its ancient treasures and just have done with your disappointment and turn away from David Sylvian as he confidently moves forward, don't look at any new headlines or scan any recent videos of the upcoming tour, for it would seem to anger you.

Six One Cynic, while I thank you for the phrase "fabulously flaxen", I need to say as a Japan fan from 1980 that this site should be for all Sylvian fans regardless of what period of his work they favour, if Japanfan doesn't like the Manafon/Died in the Wool period then he/she? has the right to voice that and not feel the need to attend a concert of material that leaves them cold
