Thanks for sharing this.
A double disc set? That sounds promising....due to an expanded length, perhaps the 50 minute score 'When We Return You Won't Recognise Us' will be included? :-)
Could anyone else confirm that the information is correct in that there are definitely 2 brand new tracks composed by Sylvian and Fujikura?

Taken from various sites:
"Play.com have a release date of 23 May 2011 for a new David Sylvian album called ‘Died In The Wool’."
"Died In The Wool 2CD digipack: Manafon variations, new material, and some re-imaginings of Manafon, 2 pieces composed by classical composer Dai Fujikura and recorded with real strings."

Recorded with real strings!

Japanese release is 18th May.

'Died in the Wool' from Wikipedia:
Died in the Wool is a detective novel by Ngaio Marsh; it is the thirteenth novel to feature Roderick Alleyn, and was first published in 1945. The novel concerns the murder of a New Zealand parliamentarian on a remote sheep farm, said to be located near Mount Cook. Like the previous novel in the series (Colour Scheme) the story takes place during World War II with Alleyn doing counterespionage work. The format of the book is somewhat unusual, in that Alleyn does not arrive at the scene of the murder until fifteen months after it has taken place, and much of his detecting is founded upon stories told him by the chief witnesses in the case.

Real strings, indeed! I suppose that is surprising to some in this day and age of so many synthetic products. :-)
So, feel free to set me straight if I interpret this incorrectly, is that blurb stating that there are 2 tracks composed by Fujikura on his own? I would think that it would read '2 pieces composed WITH classical composer Dai Fujikura' if those tracks fell within the extent of their collaboration. :?:

I checked that again (http://logantime.splinder.com/post/24342828/died-in-the-wool) and it says BY. Doesn't mean it can't be WITH though.
Anyhow, I even found a tracklist (don't know if it's the tracklist):
Disc 1:
Small Metal Gods
Died In The Wood
I Should Not Dare
Random Acts Of Senseless Violence
A Certain Slant Of Light
Anomaly At Taw Head
Snow White In Appalachia
Emily Dickinson
The Greatest Living Englishman (Coda)
Anomaly At Taw Head (A Haunting)
Manafon
The Last Days Of December

Disc 2:
When We Return You Won't Recognise Us

Sounds good. Really can't wait to get this. :-D

Excellent find, ink. The inclusion of When We Return.... has me even more psyched up to hear this release, if that is actually possible. :-)
'Certain Slant of Light' is definitely a surprise to see in that track list.

Very exciting news!

Odd that it's 'died' not 'dyed'...

David's just confirmed the release on his Facebook page, plugging Dai's charity concert.

As ever with David, very interesting song titles.

I wonder if 'I Should Not Dare' is going to be the Emily Dickinson poem (as with A Certain Slant of Light)?

I Should Not Dare

I should not dare to leave my friend,
Because if he should die
While I was gone and I -too late,
Should reach the heart that wanted me,

If I should disappoint the eyes
That hunted, hunted so, to see
And could not bear to shut until
He noticed me, -he noticed me,

If I should stab the patient faith
So sure I'd come -so sure I'd come
It listening, listening went to sleep
Reciting my tardy name.

My heart would wish it broke before
Since breaking then, since breaking then,
Is useless as next morning's sun
To erase a midnight's tear.
