David Sylvian Playlist

Postby hitch on Tue Sep 29, 2009 4:34 pm

this is David Sylvian playlist from Itunes. He made little comment for every song. Very interesting.

The above is at the UK iTunes store, so if you have problems accessing
it, change over to the UK store, then go to Music and then you should
see a menu listing for Celebrity Playlists. Click through to that and
David is there, dated 21st September.

Thank you so much!
I use the American iTunes & I simply couldn't find this playlist.
It really is a fascinating list, some of the he choice were fun & surprising.
Like Marquee Moon by Television? Excellent! who'd have thought

Very interesting playlist.

It strikes me there were two glaring omissions:

1. something by Ryuichi (esp. Ryuichi/Fennesz)
2. Ingrid's new single (but perhaps it's only available in the US store?)

There's already a thread on this playlist and some comments in the Sylvian / General forum…

Other than Arve Henriksen, he seems to have steered clear of any of his collaborators. Which is fairly honourable I suppose. I was most surprised by the exclusion of Tom Waits.

He has to retain some sort of semblance of integrity here which isn't best served by a vote for the ex-wife or a vote for something which (to my ears only on one listen) isn't very interesting.
