Doesn't cost "at least $70" total cost including the mag via the USPS route is $23.76 - yes, it could take 6 weeks, but this is a standard disclaimer for a lot of sites that ship over here. It will most probably be 1-2 weeks.

jacqueline lyrics
NA - Commissions and Collaborations // By: David Sylvian

The big man came and took the sun away
And replaced it with one of his own
There was no room for sharing
Just nurse and care for him
Fill his shoes with concrete and stone

Oh Jacqueline, Jacqueline
Things are getting harder
There’s only now ‘til the end
And nothing in-between

Keep his children from his door
Protect the one that you waited for
You can’t breathe
When his eyes aren’t on you

Though you may feel the bite of his tongue
The back of his hands, you’re not the only one
And it’s his and he alone
Will do

Oh Jacqueline, Jacqueline
Things are getting harder
There’s only now ‘til the end
And nothing in-between

[oohs]

And when you wake
You wake to the same day
The one where your Mediterranean sky turned gray
And you withdrew into the shadow of you

And while asleep
You lose his name
And the footsteps of one defiantly sound the same
So you bolted the bathroom door and flew

Oh Jacqueline, Jacqueline
Things can’t get much harder
Only now it’s the end

Borders (Charing Cross Road) stock the magazine although as of last Friday they did not have the new issue yet. The June issue was priced at £8.

Thanks so much for the heads-ups on those samples. It sounds as if, for this particular track, Sylvian was somewhat influenced by Joan Wasser's downtempo compositions and those slightly dissonant chords that she prefers to dabble with on certain songs.

I rather like it. It's along the same lines as When Monday Comes Around. Definitely sounds like a Nine Horses track. I am fond of acoustic Sylvian I must admit.

Thanks for all that guys - you are all so great! I'll pop into Charing X Rd Borders tomorrow see if they've got it in yet :-D I like what I've heard of this track so far...his voice sounds more velvety, richly textured and resonant than it has for a long time and surprisingly melodic...even thought the lyrics are still quite downbeat somehow he sounds a bit lighter in himself.

That's gorgeous. I think he will prove to be one of those singers whose voice continues to improve with age.

I have always thought that his vocals on Nine Horses were among his best.

Couldn't agree with you more about his voice, Becky! There were some comments on the YahooGroup about his voice being monotonous, but I think he's really back on form here. The reediness of 'The World Is Everything' has gone (although that is still a brilliant track I think). Not quite so sure about the song...I'm less keen on that style...but I will have to search Borders (thanks for the tip off Deadbees!) to try and find a copy anyhow...

September 14th...counting the days!!!

It's an okay song, fits most (for me) with Playground Martyrs. The other tracks on the sampler are worth checking out, as is the magazine, like the article about writing using music references.
