cervo

Postby ob8 on Tue Mar 10, 2009 4:54 pm

Buonasera a tutti !

Cervo e' un animale di montagna. I am sure now everyone understands, cervo is deer or stag in italian. The only question now is what on earth David is doing, but i am sure it will be amazing as usual.

Ps, i have been a lurker on here but hello to everyone !

Cervo is indeed a deer (in Spanish it's ciervo, so pretty similar).

You're Italian and you live near me!

Well, I'm Anglo-Scottish-African and Native American, but I speak Italian...

Anyway - sorry everyone - as you were...

update from samadhisound

Postby Simonp on Fri Mar 13, 2009 1:26 pm

We’re preparing for the release of David’s new album ‘Manafon’. It’s a powerfully bold, uncompromising work featuring contributions from Evan Parker, John Tilbury, Keith Rowe, Christian Fennesz, Otomo Yoshihide, and many more. We’ll be sharing more information on the release shortly.

Why am I slightly worried about what this record is going to sound like??

It is so weird ... this morning in half sleep i was thinking about david releasing a new album and wondered when it would happen.
When i got my samadhi sound email today announcing it coming soon I was OVER THE MOON!!!!

I am absof*ckinglutely thrilled! And, I'm prepared for it to be unique... I will not judge, I will not judge, I will not judge. LOL

Bold and uncompromising. Really, what is there to be worried about???
In addition to those already mentioned in the blurb, other musicians such as Toshimaru Nakamura, Werner Dafeldecker, Burkhard Stangl, Sachiko Matsubara and Martin Brandlmayr have taken part in the recordings for this project dating back to 2004. All of these musicians involved are affiliated with the Erstwhile Records label. I strongly suggest checking out http://erstwhilerecords.com/ and looking up some of these artists' names so that one can acclimate oneself to the predominately experimental sounds which will permeate this release. I think it is imperative to be mentally prepared for this product, or many of the participants on this forum will be experiencing a shock that would make the initial reaction to 'blemish' seem absolutely mild. :) I also recommend checking out samples of Polwechsel at http://www.polwechsel.com/inde.htm (as best I am aware, the rhythm section of Dafeldecker and Brandlmayr apparently contribute greatly to this release).
Needless to say, I am pumped - for this release will be upon us soon and, after nearly a five year wait, I am so very ready to be challenged. :D

great news. Have seen Evan parker a few times live - astonishing player.
Hope there are some 'in your face' vocals as per Blemish, but does anyone else have a feeling this might be, at least in part spoken word ?

ronald stuart thomas

I think with regards to the title of the record Sylvian obviously feels a connection to Ronald Stuart Thomas. I've been looking a little into his life story and I think David sees much of himself in the poet.
