Sylvian's lyrics - what's next?

Postby Simonp on Mon Sep 15, 2008 12:35 pm

while a lot of people will be curious as to what Sylvian's new album will sound like, I'm really interested in what he comes up with regards to the lyrics. will he continue the improvised narrative of Blemish or return to something a little more traditionally structured a la Secrets? Im also curious as to what the lyrics will be about? More on his marriage break up, more spiritual stuff....perhaps he'll be exploring the political leanings he has favoured of late.

Any ideas?

Ahhh - now wouldn't that be interesting. But still begs the question, what would the content be?

abstract randomness
visionary fragments
removed litterary grammatical and syntactical inhibition
genious undiciplined pure composing
And my heart sings of many things

OK - now you're just not making any sense at all. Do not get me started on semiotics or semantics, really, it's just too much it really is.

Do you think he might just warble on a bit in some completely random, abstract manner? Y'know, doing a bit of moaning and groaning like he did for Joan Wasser's album???

honestly
i just wish he sang the most simple phrase
something that made sense
clear and beautiful
to some sensitive chords from Sakamotos piano
And my heart sings of many things

Maybe picking up on where Blemish ended - the positive vibe of "Fire in the Forest?" Life goes on, finding things to be grateful for...

oh dear... now i'm worried i'm going to end up sitting in front of the cd player scratching my head thinking "wtf is this crap, david???".

It is like post modern art... yeah it may mean something but no one wants to think all the time.....
