Often I read posts and don't reply straight away, I have a think about it first. Just voted for GTE.

However, the Q & A with Richard has about 17 replies - a lot of them mine thanking people who thanked me for doing it - and about 1500 views!!! :?

Blemish. Just because - it took balls to make that album! Opening yourself up like that to full public scrutiny. Wow! Sincere admiration from that POV. But musically, just so intriguing, unexpected and exciting.

I voted for Blemish - it's absolutely fearless, moving, and quite beautiful if you let it become part of your life.

I love that album.

I agree that Blemish is a masterpiece of jumping straight into the deep end of the waters.... So glad we can discuss all this stuff :-)

Can I get an honourable mention for "Naoshima" too? Far from easy listening, but a powerful piece on it's own. Certainly one to listen to in the dark, with good headphones! :-D

I guess it is imperative that everyone's favorite Sylvian recording / Sylvian's 'greatest work' is expected to have vocals.

I can't really answer this because I've answered other such polls in the past and have looked at it later and been like I really want to change my answer.

Basically I am the point of how on earth could I choose, each becomes my favourite at different times.

I will confess though that it's down between "Gone to Earth" and "Brilliant Trees" for me at the moment because I am in love with "Wave" and "Red Guitar" but tomorrow....??

Lol maybe I should make myself choose, I don't know.
Indecisive could well be my middle name.
I just want to know what everyone else thinks and until I pick I won't know.

That high number might well be due to the fact that there is a link to it on the Nightporters website though I'm sure you know that, right?

Just voted for GONE TO EARTH. Woulda voted for ALCHEMY had that been there, but GONE TO EARTH is almost flawless. The production, certainly the drums, are very 80s, but other than that, its hard to quibble.
The Instrumentals are quite lovely.
I have Plight & Premontion on as i type, gotta love that album too.
Bloody genius ! ;-)

Oh yeah, I do, I put the link there (on Pioneers) because I wanted as many people as possible to benefit from it... but there are 400-odd members here... just a thought...

Brilliant Trees for me, because of the memory factor in the respect it changed my outlook on music forever for one and I still think songs like Ink in the Well, (despite the arguably pretentious lyrics), are still so fresh and vibrant. And overall for the air of positivity and exultant feel to the whole album. Perhaps the most life-changing album for me of all time, discounting The Wombles.
